Puerto Banus was once a traditional Spanish fishing village, and an exclusive secret before becoming mainstream about 10 years ago. However, there's no doubt that the party still attracts the rich and famous to its numerous trendy cafes, restaurants, clubs and casinos. Nightlife here is well known for being legendary with the world's best DJ's and partying until day break being common during the busy summer months.

The waterfront area known as 'Muelle Rivera' pulls the jet set to its array of expensive bars, eateries and designer shops. It's definitely the place to see and be seen, so if you're looking to spot super cars, super yachts and famous faces, head here for some quality people watching. It's a great place to spend an evening or two watching the promenading.

If the glitz and glamour of the waterfront palls, you can easily find authentic pavement cafes and tapas bars away from the waterfront, throughout the town. Or you can relax at the main square, an extensive plaza paved in marble - again, perfect for watching the world go by from behind your designer shades.

Puerto Banus boasts world-class shopping and it would be hard to find a designer label that wasn't present in the frontline boutiques here. Some of the biggest names in designer fashion even have flagship stores here. One thing's for sure, if it's in fashion - it's here. Other shopping highlights include the popular and sizeable Spanish department store El Corte Ingles, and the Shopping Centre as well as plenty of traditional Spanish shops and boutiques. There's also a weekly souvenir market held every Saturday morning in the local bullring selling local products.

The marina is endlessly well stocked with super yachts and is a favourite stop-off for various Royal families. Generally, the biggest boats can be found at the south end of the port.

The fabulous long, clean beach at the north end of the town is called Playa Levante and it offers all facilities. It is one of numerous clean sandy beaches, which is also home to exclusive beach clubs.

As with Marbella holidays, Puerto Banus apartments benefit from the fact that the areas has its own micro-climate averaging over 300 days of sunshine annually. This takes the edge of the summer heat and makes winters mild and warm.

This area features stunning tree-lined shopping parades with a wide range of luxury shops and a newly opened El Corte Ingles department store. Here you can enjoy a relaxed café culture by day and visit one of the hotel's exclusive clubs or sample one of the renowned restaurants by night.

The climate makes the area surrounding it a Mecca for golf in Spain, with numerous golf courses within a 10-mile radius. The highly manicured golf courses here, often with stunning sea or mountain views, are some of the best in Europe and Puerto Banus regularly ranks as one of the world's top golfing holiday destinations. In the Marbella area alone golfers can choose from over 15 different courses that, due to the dry, warm climate are playable year round. There are courses to suit all levels, from complete beginner to pro.

Away from the waterfront, golf course and your Puerto Banus Spain apartment there's plenty to explore in the surrounding area with the Bermeja Mountains to the north of the town offering great panoramic views and adventures. The area has it's own aquarium but there are many theme parks, amusement parks and water parks within a short drive if you've got youngsters to please.

Summers in the port can be very busy so be sure to book any apartments well in advance to avoid disappointment.
